Meters for ABB in Algeria

MPM has been awarded a contract by ABB in Italy for the supply of topside multiphase meters for use at Groupement Berkine’s El Merk project.

The scope of supply includes 5 topside meters specially designed to measure well production in manifolds @ El Merk, Algeria. The meters will be configured with the most advanced MPM features such as Droplet Count with In-situ sampling, Dual Mode and Salinity Probe.
Over the past couple of years MPM has worked closely with Groupement Berkine (a Joint Venture with Sonatrach and Anadarko as major shareholders), and eventually with ABB, on a multiphase metering solution able to fulfill the challenging conditions characteristic of the El Merk field (and similar to other big potential developments in the same area). The expected conditions will have high gas volume fraction, slugging flows and large changes in water fraction over time.
